Due to the largely positive results of the poll, I've decided to go ahead with the young lions idea. (Yay!) So here's what we're going to do: We've written up the profiles for the parents of the cubs - a small pride of three adults - so that we can start making characters and such. Please note that none of these adults are available as characters. Once we've got things organized, we'll start their part in the TP with an introductory scene which will fully reveal their part in the plot. After that I'll give all those who still aren't sure a couple of days to make up your minds before because then you'll be able to see exactly what you're getting yourself into, and I don't want to drag this out for too long.
- I need to know from everyone who answered "Definitely" if you have a preference for which lioness is your mommy, and if so which one and also if you have a preference on your cub's age so that we can start sorting cubs into litters and figuring out more exactly how old everyone is. If you're not sure/don't care on both, I'll likely assign you to where you'll even things out. You may also create your character now.
Pahalautha, the male lion:
- Parents are Rachana (father) and Khojii (mother).
- Is seven years old.
- Not an absentee father, but one who is seldom around. He's often off alone marking things and ranging the territory, as male lions are wont.
- Permissive with his cubs, likely due to the fact that he's never been too involved with their upbringing.
- Often defers to Vrimta, as her personality is more forceful than his.
- Favors Shaamti for her youth and far sweeter demeanor.
Vrimta, the older lioness:
- Parents are Daurana (father) and Akarshana (mother).
- Is the eldest lion, at the age of nine, and Shaamti's half-sister.
- Larger than Shaamti; more powerful-looking than conventionally 'feminine.'
- Arguably the matriarch and true backbone of the family; Pahalautha listens to her, and she takes it upon herself to ensure that everyone is well cared for.
- She is an older mother and has raised many litters of cubs, so she's had plenty of experience with cubrearing.
- Stern, serious, and short of temper. She's very much a disciplinarian; her offspring don't get away with anything. Nor do her half-sister's when she sees them misbehaving, for that matter.
- Will occasionally claim belief in a deity called Hatyaa, whose sole job appears to be terrorizing disobedient cubs. He is an angry god, and nothing makes him angrier than willful children! It's unclear whether she actually believes that Hatyaa exists, or if he's just some bogeyman she made up to keep her progeny in line. Do you really want to find out?
Shaamti, the younger lioness:
- Parents are Samira (father) and Akarshana (mother).
- Is the youngest, at the age of four, and Vrimta's half-sister.
- Her litter, similarly, is the youngest.
- Like Pahalautha, she defers to Vrimta's authority and seldom argues with it, as her half-sibling is both older and more than capable of looking after everything.
- She's closer to Pahalautha than Vrimta is, as he prefers her quiet, much more easygoing nature.
- If Vrimta is a stern parent, Shaamti is a loving one. She'll happily mother both litters of cubs, doting on them with affection and stories. Her main problem is that, being so inexperienced, she has no idea how to control them when they act up.
- Though she seems like the sort of individual who would rather put her faith into a kind, loving god, she has been known to invoke Hatyaa when her children are being especially bad--to less effect, as she's reluctant to describe how he will pull their tongues out and switch all their eyes if they don't stop what they're doing.
