Location: Pointed Peak
Characters:
Darshan, male adol. peregrine falcon
Nishant, male adol. Snow Leopard
The view would be amazing to most creatures; the vast, unending, smallness of it all. Nishant sits, nostrils flaring as they work to keep him breathing in the altitude, looking out over what seems like the entire world. But him? Oh, he's seen all this before; heard the echoes of faraway places, which seem to chime forever; smelled little but the thin, frigid wind. But all those other times were different. He wasn't alone then, as he is now. His sister was usually to the left, irritating his ears with comments on every minor thing she took note of. His mother would stand behind them, chuckling in response to her daughter's enthusiasm. The young leopard trembles from his perch on a narrow ledge, tail coiling around his front legs as if in an effort to keep them still. It's all going to be okay, isn't it? He doesn't need them any more. He's not -supposed- to.
Higher up than even the peak of the mountain, A young falcon fights some rather difficult to navigate gusts of cold wind. What was he doing up here again? It has seemed like a good idea at the time, see how high up he could go, if he could get further up than the peak of the mountain. Well he had, and now finds himself being beat up by all this cold wind. He makes an attempt to head down lower, by tucking his wings and diving, and he succeeds. However when he attempts to level out, now probably within the leopard's field of view, he opens his wings, and finds himself caught by a gust of wind, sent right toward the leopard. Darshan either.. is hurled right into Nishant, or ends up on his back in a snow drift nearby.
The leopard continues his brooding, wondering what he should be doing right now. He'd never much paid any mind to the lessons his mother tries so very hard to teach him. She had been a good mother, he couldn't deny that. It is most certainly the reason why he misses her so. Perhaps he simply wasn't ready. Would it be too late to go back? The wistful thoughts are abruptly shut down as Nishant's ears twitch. He is sure he smelled something closing in, the scent of a creature he isn't familiar with. He squints into the rush of air, catching a view of the young avian zipping toward him. "Wha--?" he begins, just before the falcon becomes very personally acquainted with his face. "Hey! Heyhey... HEY!" His shouts of protest are muffled by feathers.
Said Falcon yelps when he hits something... furry.. The wind threatens to carry him away again before he manages to fold his wings up and fall off the leopard, plopping into a snowdrift, groaning. "Wasn't expecting that." he groans as he tries to get out of the snow and see what he hit. "I apologize for that." he says, doing a double take when he sees the leopard "I uhh, I'm really sorry about that, I uhh.. got caught by a gust of wind, and umm couldn't control where I was going." he says ruffling his feathers to try and get all the snow off.
Once the bird is off of him, Nishant shakes his head, sneezing a few times. "You... you just... Where did...?" The leopard stops, taking a moment to compose and collect his speech. His expression gradually calms, and he settled unto his haunches to study the bird. "You have to be careful, the air is different up here than down where the grass grows." He speaks only with the most generous of tones; there's no mocking there, for he is quite used to creatures of lower elevations attempting to visit these heights. "I... you didn't get hurt, did you?"
Darshan shakes his head, "No, I'm okay, are you?" he asks, looking just slightly nervous... hoping the cat doesn't decide he wants dinner. "You are right in that assumption, I've never been up here before. Wanted to see how high I could fly. The air is quite different than what I am used to, the wind gusts, harder to predict. Thats how I got knocked into you, trying to level off, I opened my wings and got blown back."
Nishant shakes his head. "No harm done." The falcon is lucky; Nishant isn't the sort to go randomly devouring things. He's never learned to recognize birds as food, and so the thought of Darshan being potential prey does not even come close to entering the leopard's mind. "Do you think you can get back down?" Nishant peers toward the ground, having no idea how flying works. He'd always just assumed birds could flap their wings and go wherever they please, with no problem at all. "It's a long way to fall. Do you need any help?"
"I think I'll be okay." he responds, "Might come back up here to try to see if I can master flying up here, maybe I'll see you around sometime. But I've had enough fun for one day. He prep himself for flight, "I'm Darshan by the way." he says, looking back at the leopard, then down at the ground below.
"Alright. It was nice to meet you. If you come back, I could show you around." Maybe he's just desperate for company. Who knows? Nishant bows faintly to the bird. "I'm Nishant. Good luck, please be safe."
Darshan opens his beak in a bit of a smile "Its a pleasure to meet you, Nishant. See you around." he says before jumping off the edge of the ledge, and opening his wings, getting caught by wind and lifted up, and out of the leopard's view.. then a moment later he goes diving by him streaking towards the lower lands.
