Alright, so I am *SUPER EXCITED* about Hidden Nirvana and have finally decided on who my character shall be! Here's a few fun facts for you guys.
CHARACTER NAME: Mitra
CHARACTER GENDER: Female
CHARACTER SPECIES: Clouded Leopard
CHARACTER AGE: Adult
NAME INSPIRATION: Mitra is named for a male divinity in Indic culture. Mitra is the patron (yes, I know, a male name) divinity of honesty, friendship, contracts and meetings. I warmed to this name over all the others, and Mitra's attributes appeal to me as a player. I also thought the idea of this deity went well with clouded leopard mythology. Clouded leopards are credited with leading the Rukai people to their homeland, and this seems like the sort of thing the divine Mitra might do.
OTHER: I don't want to list her history or personality yet. But if you join Hidden Nirvana Muck, you're bound to learn more!
CLOUDED LEOPARD FACTS:
** Clouded leopards are a beautiful, uniquely colored cat.
** Clouded leopards can hang from their hind legs like a monkey!
** Clouded leopards, at least in captivity, mate for life. As far as I know, no other cat in existence does that. If they are separated, it often ends in disastrous results.
** Clouded leopards are capable of making over forty different sounds, including imitating bird and monkey calls to assist them in hunting.
** Clouded leopards are capable of absorbing falls of up to 100ft without injury.
** Male clouded leopards are often up to thirty pounds heavier than female clouded leopards.
** Clouded leopards have the largest canine teeth, proportionate to their skull size, of any other cat today. It is thought that they are the closest descendants of the saber toothed felines of the past.
** Like snow leopards, the tails of clouded leopards are nearly as long as or longer than their actual body. They use these incredible tails for balance when they are moving through the canopy.
** It used to be thought that clouded leopards did most of their hunting and living in the trees. It has recently been discovered that this is not so; in fact, clouded leopards do a great deal of their hunting on the ground and use trees more often for sleeping, although they will often drag a kill into the trees to avoid it being stolen by other predators.
** Clouded leopards are not credited with having any natural predators.
